A message from Professor Julie Sanders, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of Royal Holloway, and Sharanya Sivarajah, Royal Holloway Students' Union President.
Professor Julie Sanders (L) and Sharanya Sivarajah (R)
We are delighted to be welcoming a new cohort of students to our Egham campus and as a new academic year begins, the University and the Students’ Union are both looking forward to the year ahead and the exciting possibilities on the horizon.
Our relationship with the local community is incredibly important to both Royal Holloway and the Students’ Union. We’re so lucky to be based in such a beautiful and welcoming local area, and we thrive on maintaining a strong relationship with our local community.
We are continuing to shape Royal Holloway as a University of Social Purpose. That’s why we’re putting social purpose at the centre of everything we want to achieve – from education and research to all of our partnership working. For this reason, we want to ensure that we sustain a meaningful connection with our surroundings and continue to play a part in our wider community.
This year, arrivals weekend for new students takes place from Friday 20 September to Sunday 22 September, with the new term starting on Monday 23 September. Our students bring many positives to our locality, from award-winning volunteering initiatives and creative community events to investment in local businesses in Egham, Englefield Green, and the surrounding areas.
All of us within the University and Students’ Union want to make sure our students settle into their halls and homes safely and become good neighbours to you all. We also want our students to be able to feel a sense of belonging in the wider community. All of the teams at Royal Holloway and the Students’ Union look forward to collaborating with you to achieve this throughout the coming year.
