Your Student Experience
Studying Abroad
The benefits of studying abroad is all about adding value to your time as a student, and enjoying a truly dynamic, life-changing experience. You will experience a different way of life living in another country and interacting with people from different backgrounds. This allows you to know yourself better, gain more confidence in your decision-making processes and immerse yourself in a new culture, whilst enhancing your career prospects. The credits you are awarded abroad will be counted toward your final degree.
There are three ways of studying abroad at Royal Holloway:
European Exchange - You can spend time at one of our partner universities in Europe.
International Exchange – This is our student exchange programme with international universities outside Europe. We have exchange agreements with universities in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and the USA.
International Summer Schools – You can apply for a place on one of the International Summer Schools offered by our Erasmus and International Exchange partner universities
Placements
Year in Business
All our School of Business and Management single-honours degree programmes give you the opportunity to spend one year working for a company (aka sandwich year). You will take your placement after your second year of studies. Progression to the placement is conditional on good academic performance.
The benefits of a year in business enable you to gain valuable work experience, which will help you prepare you to move into the career of your choice upon graduation. Often, at the end of placements, students are offered permanent jobs in the same company, which they may take up following graduation.

Business and Management Ambassador Scheme
"One of the greatest things to come from my time in the School of Business and Management was my participation in the Business and Management Ambassador Scheme. From this role, I gained skills in teamwork, leadership, and public speaking - to name a few! Not only this, but I also gained a group of friends that I'd consider family." Dariush (below, centre)
Further information about applying for school's Ambassador Scheme is announced during each academic year.
