Lights, Camera, Communicate

Lights, Camera, Communicate

  • Date14 June 2021

During the week commencing 7th June, Economics students were invited to a series of events organised by the department. Amongst the highlights were a “mock assessment centre” run with the careers centre and a media training session: Lights, Camera, Communicate.

The media training session was provided by broadcaster, journalist and media coach Alec Wilkinson. Students were taken through how to deal with media/broadcasting issues that they may encounter in their career and built up their confidence and interpersonal skills. The day included vital interview techniques, dealing with hostile interviews, body language, dealing with nerves, answering difficult questions and how to face a live audience.

Our students had a great day and provided us with excellent feedback:

“Great, engaging and constructive day with valuable feedback”

“Alec was very informative and the day was well structured and prepared. I learnt a lot of techniques which I will apply in my life both professionally and personally”
