Work experience/placement opportunities in the Electronic Engineering Department
Every summer we offer work experience/placement opportunities for students interested in engineering. This is an ideal opportunity to see if the world of technology and engineering is something you might like to pursue as a career and to find out what it is like to be in a university learning environment.
We ask our placement/work experience students to consider what they would like to achieve within the week and come with an idea of either a project they wish to work on or an area of electronics or engineering they would like to find out more about.
If you wish to construct something Instructables.com have some nice ideas. YouTube and Google are often inspirational. We would only ask that if you need any components ordered that you contact us well ahead of time, so we can ensure we have them available for you.
We have a full fabrication workshop and a great team of technicians to support and inspire you. We can help you get to grips with design software and will teach you all the skills you need to achieve your project.
At the end of the week, we ask that you give a short presentation to us using PowerPoint – describing what you set out to do, what you did, how it went and what you would do again. You will present to the tech team who will give you some valuable feedback. We would also ask if the opportunity is available to you, to present the same to your peers on returning to your school after the visit.
If you are interested in joining us for a week, please speak with your school and complete and return the two forms to Lisa.fell@rhul.ac.uk to start the process off. We will consider two students working together on a project if you have something that you are both interested in.
Applications will close Midday Monday 20 May 2024 - Applications have now closed
