David Yuratich helps Supreme Court celebrate 10th Anniversary
- Date28 October 2019
First, the anniversary saw the official launch of Royal Holloway’s ‘Legal Landmarks’ videos which have been gifted to the Court and are currently being hosted in its museum space. This is a series of films about ten landmark cases in English legal history presented by David and by Katie Broomfield, who is a doctoral research in the Department of History at Royal Holloway who researched and wrote the scripts. With cases dating back as far as 1604, the films explore the impact that these decisions have had on the lives of ordinary people. The films have been produced by Royal Holloway, University of London, as part of its National Lottery Heritage Fund Citizens Project. One of these videos is embedded above. Second, David has for the past two years been running ‘Be A Justice’ workshops at the Supreme Court’s summer open days. These are open to the general public and are interactive discussions of how the Court decides the cases that it hears. As part of the anniversary celebrations, David gave a workshop to an invited school from Stratford, London.
