The Stockholm Criminology Symposium will be held between 12th-14th June 2023 at Münchenbryggeriet, Stockholm (Sweden). Jenny will present her paper titled “Mum was not who she was or who she wanted to be: Exploring the gendered impacts of stalking through the experiences of stalked mothers”.
Under the overall thematic umbrella ‘Contemporary Criminology’ and as part of the session “Early causes and the prediction of criminality viewed from gender perspectives”, her paper titled “Mum was not who she was or who she wanted to be: Exploring the gendered impacts of stalking through the experiences of stalked mothers” will explore the effects of stalking on the quality of parenting in cases where victims are mothers and the impacts of stalking on their children.
In her talk she will be providing a critical, feminist and trauma-informed glimpse into the dynamics of being a mother within the context of abuse by male stalkers. Implications in terms of knowledge, responses and interventions will be considered and discussed.
