The webinar is part 3 of the British Institute for International and Comparative Law webinar series on "Rising Sea Levels: Promoting Climate Justice through International Law".
The webinar will reflect on the January 2020 decision of the Human Rights Committee case brought by Ioane Teitiota which made direct links between climate change and human rights in the context of climate induced displacement. Irene will host Professor Jane McAdam from the University of South Wales, Emeline Siale Ilolahia, Executive Director of the Pacific Islands Association of NGOs, Professor Benoit Mayer from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Matthew Reed QC and Admas Habteslasie from Landmark Chambers. The webinar will be an opportunity to discuss the implications of climate induced displacement as a human rights issue, the importance of science informed policy making on adaptation, as well as the state of international law when it comes to climate displaced populations a year after the Human Rights Committee decision.
The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 17 March 2021 at 09:00-10:30. Pre-registration is required.
