Professor Giovanni Travaglino (Professor of Social Psychology and Criminology) has co-authored a new article lead by Benjamin Abrams (University College London).
The article is titled “The Meaning of Contention”. It analyses differences and similarities in the definition of Contention across disciplines, including Criminology, Psychology, Political Sciences and Sociology.
Nowadays, contentious political relationships permeate the fabric of society. The scientific study of contention has a strong multidisciplinary dimension. However, disciplines do not always use the term to indicate the same set of phenomena. The article provides an overview of the scholarship on contention across fields and outlines a common conceptual thread.
