On 11 November 2021, 3.30pm-5pm, Law Prof. Jill Marshall hosts a Being Human Festival 2021 Café with the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) to engage the public with Colombian based research.
This initiative is supported by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) and it is co-hosted by Prof. Jill Marshall and Prof. Carl Stychin. It is one of the events featured in the Being Human Festival 2021, led by the School of Advanced Study in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UKRI) and the British Academy (BA).
The café will engage the public with an interdisciplinary, international collaborative research project between law, psychology, management and art academics in the Universidad de Ibague (Colombia), and Royal Holloway, University of London Law & Criminology and Business & Management departments. The initiative was co-designed with the Chaparral Women's Network for Peace and the rural people’s Cooperative of Tolima (Colombia), communities deeply exposed to multiple traumatic events including armed conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Some of the researchers and community members will present at the café live on zoom in short snapshots of the work, including a short video and photography produced by the communities and featured in exhibitions in Colombia during the summer.
