Nathan James Dearden - conducting

In September, Nathan was selected onto two prestigious programmes. As part of Making Music UK's Adopt-a-Composer scheme, he has the opportunity to collaborate with the Swansea Philharmonic Choir towards a new 10-minute work to be premiered in 2019 and broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Nathan was also selected alongside thirteen Welsh and Wales-based composers to participate in Tŷ Cerdd’s CoDI Composer Pathways programme. Here, Nathan will work with leading Wales-based composer Lynne Plowman and the Berkeley Ensemble over a series of workshops to create new works for Cardiff University School of Music's chamber music series in April 2019.

These announcements follow Nathan's selection in July as one of fifteen student composers from across the world to be featured at the 2018 Crossroads International Contemporary Music Festival. The festival will be held Mozarteum University of Salzburg on 6-8th December 2018. Nathan will write a new oboe quartet for the Hebrides Ensemble, which has established itself as one of the foremost chamber music collectives based in the UK.

Alongside his studies, Nathan is well known at Royal Holloway as the Music Department's Performance Manager, and as conductor of the New Voices Consort and New Music Collective.
