This day conference is aimed at serving and better connecting with the network of charities and community organisations we are associated with. This is a free biennial event. As part of the programme there is a series of workshop sessions. This free event is aimed at volunteer coordinators, supervisors or other volunteer managers. This is the perfect event for interested organisations to come along to find out more.

Our biggest recruitment event of the year, the Festival is where we invite all of our community partners on site to talk to students about their volunteering opportunities. The event is a lot of fun, featuring live entertainment, dozens of community partners, interactive activities and even a circus tent! 

 Organised by the national charity Step Up to Serve, the #iwill campaign’s goal is to encourage young people ages 10-20 to get involved in some sort of social action or charitable volunteering. Each year we promote the #will campaign with fun taster opportunities and other campaigns.

Get into the festive spirit with great Christmas volunteering opportunities. As well as our own donation based social action projects, we often advertise local opportunities such as charity Santa fun runs, homeless support opportunities and Christmas lunches at local community centres.

If you need a way of breaking up your revision schedule, then we have great opportunities taking place throughout third term. These opportunities are great for trying out new projects and are designed to be open to all new volunteers, with no training required. They include gardening projects, singing projects with the elderly, local school fetes and more! 

In February each year we celebrate Student Volunteering Week with a number of different activities, campaigns and Project Days. If you are interested in getting your new year off to a good start then you need look no further! In previous years Royal Holloway has held competitions, activity days and even a trip from the Mayor of Runnymede as part of Student Volunteering Week.

We think that volunteering is a fantastic way of ending the academic year, so it is lucky that the National Volunteers’ Week, which celebrates the amazing work of volunteers across the country, takes place from 1-7 June each year. For Volunteers’ Week we hold another Project Day, giving you one last chance to get some volunteering hours in before the summer break!

Ending the academic year with style, this ceremony recognises the amazing work of volunteers within the university and in the local community. Organised in collaboration with Voluntary Support North Surrey, Royal Holloway uses this event to present its most prestigious award, the Runnymede Mayor’s Cup for Student Volunteer of the year.

Just because term has ended, the volunteering does not have to stop. We continue to update students throughout the summer, letting them know about new opportunities that our community partners might have. We also offer students guidance to help them find opportunities local to their homes!
