Home/EU and international students are eligible for consideration for Research Council funding.
UK Research Councils don't give studentship awards directly to students but give them to the University, or to a DTP (Doctoral Training Partnership) or a CDT (Collaborative Doctoral Training) - both are a consortium of universities - of which the University is a member, for allocation.
In the Schools of Humanities, Law and Social Sciences, Life Sciences and the Environment, and Performing and Digital Arts, and the School of Business and Management, University studentships are awarded through the same application process as the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) and the ESRC (Economic and Social Research Council) studentships, so that by applying for a Research Council studentship you will be automatically considered for a University studentship.
Students interested in applying for research funding from a Research Council should enquire with their prospective department.
Studentships from other Research Councils may be available. Please contact your Director of Postgraduate Research Education for further information.
