The Visit visa can be used in limited circumstances to study a course at Royal Holloway. Some students coming to the UK as visitors will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETA) before they travel.
Most students studying a full-time course at Royal Holloway will need to enter the UK on a Student visa or on another form of immigration permission that allows them to study.
In certain limited circumstances, students may be able to or need to use a Visit visa to enter the UK.
If after reading this guidance, you are unsure whether you are able to use a Visit visa to enter the UK then please contact us. If you are ineligible to study on a Visit visa but enter the UK on one anyway, then it is unlikely that you will be able to enrol for your course.
In 2024, the UK government announced the introduction of a Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) which certain nationalities travelling to the UK as a visitor will need to be granted before they travel to the UK. Please read the guidance below carefully and ensure that you apply for an ETA at least 72 hours in advance of travelling to the UK.
